STRENGTH FOR TODAY, HOPE FOR TOMORROW

YOU ARMED ME WITH STRENGTH FOR THE BATTLE – KING DAVID (Psalm 18:39)

In December 2024, I found myself tuning in to several discussions on prostate cancer and its prevention. One talk, particularly by the ever-vocal Dr. Rasheed Adedapo (see the link 👇🏾 https://www.instagram.com/asliceofnaija/reel/C3BLkhpxccB/), stood out. He recommended having sex at least 21 times a month as a preventive measure. That caught my attention—not just for the health advice, but also because I wondered where I’d find that frequency! 😊

Not long after, while taking a shower one morning, I noticed a small bump on my private part. Fear gripped me instantly. I couldn’t even focus on finishing my bath properly—I kept checking it under different lighting, using my phone and mirrors, waiting for dawn so I could rush to the doctor.

When I finally got examined, the doctor burst into laughter (and even bought me lunch) because it turned out to be absolutely nothing. Yet, in my mind, I had already jumped to the worst possible conclusion.

This morning, while studying scripture, I came across King David’s words: "You armed me with strength for the battle." (Psalm 18:39)

The small but significant word "THE" caught my attention. It meant the battle—specific and certain. David fought countless battles in his lifetime, yet he won all of them. When he declared those words, he had no idea what battle was ahead or how fierce it would be. But he had an unshakable confidence that God would provide the exact strength required for each fight. That confidence was his greatest strategy.

During my study, I also stumbled upon a word in the YouVersion Bible App: CATASTROPHISING, the tendency to overestimate danger and underestimate one's ability to cope.

It struck me how often we let a single bad experience shape our perception of the future. A bad sales day can make us fear that the next day will be even worse. A moment of failure can convince us that success is out of reach. We become paralyzed by fear, just as I did when I assumed I had prostate symptoms from merely touching a bump.

But here’s the truth: We don’t know what the future holds, but we know the One who holds the future.

March 2025 ends today. If you’ve made it this far, take heart—tomorrow holds even greater possibilities.

Do not let the memory of past struggles dictate your vision for the future. Keep your faith, and keep moving forward. You will be provided with the strength you need for the next battle.

Shalom.

How a Simple Supply Chain System Transformed Last-Minute Procurement in a Nigerian Church

While reminiscing and laughing about past events during my visit to my friend, Pastor Emeka's office, the sound engineer suddenly burst in, requesting the urgent purchase of batteries, speaker cables, and jack plugs for their guitars. Frustrated by the request, Pastor Emeka responded, "Why are you asking for these items now? You know the fellowship is this evening, don’t you? Well, I suppose we’ll manage with what we have today and procure them tomorrow since we don’t have any money now." "I’m really sorry, Sir, but we don’t have anything to work with this evening. I understand we may not have funds, but I can speak to the supplier to deliver them on credit, and we can pay him tomorrow or in two days," came the response from the man he called Philip. Reminiscing in Pastor Emeka’s Office I noticed that Pastor Emeka was no longer in the mood for our chat. He was upset, continually mentioning how the team often made these requests at the last minute. He didn’t wan...

DO NOT LET ANYONE LOOK DOWN ON YOUR BUSINESS

DO NOT LET ANYONE LOOK DOWN ON YOUR BUSINESS A few years ago, at my friend's grocery shop, I witnessed a heated altercation between him and one of his sales staff. The scene was unpleasant, with harsh words flying back and forth. When I inquired, I discovered that he had audited the shop's accounts and deducted the cost of missing items from the staff member's salary, per their prior agreement. Upset by this, the staff member decided to resign, demanding a refund of the deductions. My friend responded, "We'll need to inform your guarantor about the missing items before I can process a refund." This remark caused the staff member to angrily exclaim, "This small, nonsense shop is asking for a guarantor—how much is the entire business even worth?" I noticed those words hit my friend hard. He felt his business wasn’t being respected because it was seen as “too small” to deserve proper structure. To every business owner out there, running a business is a ...
